The Annual General Meeting of the Authority will be held at the conclusion of this meeting.

Part 1

Items to be considered while the press and public are present

  1. Apologies for absence
  2. To receive any declarations of interest from members of the Authority.
    If a member declares a personal interest, as defined in the MPA’s code of conduct, she or he may remain in the meeting and speak and vote on the issue. If the issue is a prejudicial one, the member must withdraw from the meeting during discussion of that item.
  3. Minutes of the meeting of the Authority held on 29 May 2003
  4. Minutes of Committees
    The approved or draft minutes of the following committee meetings will be circulated separately to Members of the Authority for information. Minutes are publicly reported to the following meeting of the committee concerned for approval. They can also be viewed on the Authority’s website or by contacting the committee officer named at the bottom of this agenda.
    • Co-ordination & Policing Committee, 19 May
    • Human Resources Committee, 5 June
    • Finance Committee, 9 June
  5. Chair’s, Members’ and Clerk’s updates (oral report)

  7. Motion
    Anthony Arbour has given notice that he wishes to move the following motion under Standing Order 5.7:
    “That the MPA revise the Resource Allocation Formula to better reflect the monetary contribution each borough makes to the Metropolitan Police Authority budget.”
    Richard Barnes has indicated that he will second this motion.
  8. Review of the Authority’s Contracts Regulations and Scheme of Delegation
  9. Appointment process for MPA Independent Members in 2004
  10. Exclusion of Press and Public
    If necessary to discuss the exempt minutes of the last full Authority meeting, to resolve that the press and public be asked to leave the meeting during discussion of the remaining item of business because exempt information as defined in paragraph 1 of Schedule 12A of the Local Government Act 1972 is likely to be made known.

Please note that members of the press and public must leave the meeting at this point.

Items to be considered after the exclusion of the press and public

  1. Exempt minutes of the meeting of the Authority held on 29 May 2003.

Annual General Meeting

The Annual Meeting of the Metropolitan Police Authority will be held immediately following the conclusion of this ordinary meeting, to discuss the following business:

  1. Election of Chair of the Authority
  2. Election of two Deputy Chairs of the Authority
  3. Member attendances at Authority / committee meetings in 2002/03
  4. Election of Chairs and Deputy Chairs of MPA Committees
  5. Appointment of membership of MPA Committees
  6. Appointment of co-opted members of Equal Opportunities & Diversity Board and Consultation Committee
  7. Appointments to outside bodies/organisations
  8. Appointment of a link member for Lewisham

Members were reminded that if they had a financial interest in any matter that was discussed at the meeting they should have declared the interest and not taken part in any discussion or voted on it.
