8. Election of Chair

(Agenda item 1)

Resolved:
that John Biggs chair this meeting.

9. Minutes

(Agenda item 2)

Resolved:
that the minutes of the meeting held on 2nd May 2001 be confirmed as a correct record and signed by the Chair.

10. Exclusion of press and public

(Agenda item 3)

A resolution was put to exclude the press and public from the meeting during agenda items 4 - ‘Confidential Minutes’, and 5 - ‘Senior Civil Staff Pay’, as they would be likely to disclose exempt information as described in Schedule 12(a) of the Local Government Act 1972 (as amended) relating to:

Information relating to a particular employee, former employee or applicant to become an employee of, or a particular office-holder, former office holder or applicant to become an office-holder under the authority.

Resolved:
that the press and public be excluded from the meeting during the agenda items 4 and 5.

11. Confidential minutes

The confidential minutes of the last meeting were agreed.

12. Senior civil staff pay

(Agenda item 5)

Members received two reports. The first had also been received at the previous meeting of the Remuneration Sub Committee and described proposals to introduce a revised pay management system for senior civil staff posts within the MPS. The second paper detailed the performance management and assessment regime that would be applied to senior civil staff posts. The recommendations contained in the papers were agreed.

The meeting ended at 1.00 p.m.
