Summary

The report is supplementary to reports on the 2004/05 budget submission already circulated to the Authority and sets out the views of the Finance Committee.

A. Recommendations

  1. That the Authority takes note of the Finance Committee’s views.

B. Supporting information

1. The Finance Committee has considered the report already circulated with the Authority agenda as Appendix A to agenda item 7 (a).

2. The Committee noted that the Authority will be recommended to incorporate in the 2004/05 budget submission the further proposed reductions summarised in Annex B to that report.

3. The Committee members agreed that they were not prepared to accept at this stage that no further reductions could be made in the police overtime budget for 2004/05.

4. The Committee was also concerned to ensure that the implications of any one off savings in 2004/05 were clearly presented in the final submission.
