80. Communications

(Agenda item 1)

David Riddle, Solicitor to the Authority, reported that a special meeting of the Sub Committee had been called to consider the reports of the Director of Internal Audit and the Solicitor to the Authority regarding the letting of a procurement contract. The reports contained exempt information as described in Part 1, Schedule 12A of the Local Government Act 1972 (as amended) and were urgent due to the likely public interest in the issue.

The Chair welcomed the members of the Sub Committee and thanked them for agreeing to meet at short notice.

The Chair advised the Sub Committee that Toby Harris and Karim Murji had been invited to attend the meeting as Chair of Corporate Governance Committee and Deputy Chair of Professional Standards and Complaints Committee. The Sub Committee noted that whilst they may be invited to speak at the meeting they would not be entitled to vote should the occasion arise.

81. Declarations of interests

(Agenda item 2)

No declarations of interest were made

82. Exclusion of press and public

(Agenda item 3)

A resolution was put to exclude the press and public from the meeting during the remaining agenda item as it would be likely to disclose exempt information as described in Part 1, Schedule 12A of the Local Government Act 1972 (as amended).

Resolved – That the press and public be excluded from the meeting during the remaining agenda items.
