Summary

This report contains a summary of reports received by the sub-committees of Strategic and Operational Policing Committee.

A. Recommendation

That the report be received.

B. Supporting information

1. At each meeting of the Strategic and Operational Policing Committee Authority members will receive a report on its sub-committees instead of the minutes. Part 1 minutes will be available on the website, and exempt part 2 minutes are available to members only, on request.

2. This report covers the following meeting:

  • Counter-Terrorism and Protective Services Sub-Committee – 28 January 2009
  • Olympic /Paralympic sub-committee on 4 February 2010

Counter-Terrorism and Protective Services Sub-Committee –28 November 2009

Performance update (Exempt)

Members received a report that provided a performance update on the ‘Prepare’ strand of the MPS counter – terrorism strategy.

Special Operations Financial management information (Exempt)

The Sub-Committee received and noted a report on the content of Special Operations financial information pack, based on actual spends to the end of September 2009.

Specialist Operations Management Information

A report was received that provided an update on Specialist Operations performance against performance plan targets.

OCU Oral Update

The sub-committee were provided with a presentation of the work of S020.

Olympic /Paralympic sub-committee on 4 February 2010

The sub-committee received an update from the Chair on the national Olympic Security Board. The MPS also provided updates on several issues that had occurred since the previous meeting.

The sub-committee approved four business cases:

  • Business Case: National Olympic Coordination Centre (exempt)
  • Business Case: Olympic Intelligence Centre (exempt)
  • Business Case: VIP Protection (exempt)
  • Business Case: National Resource Requirement (exempt).

These were forwarded to Finance and Resources for ratification on 11 February 2010.

3. Copies of non-exempt reports and minutes from the Authority and its committees can be viewed on the MPA website, or obtained from MPA Committee Services team.

There are no race and diversity impact issues directly arising from this report. Race and diversity impact is a standing item on reports submitted to committees and sub-committees.
