2003/04 draft budget submission

Summary

This supplementary report is submitted following an informal member meeting on 8 November 2002.

A. Recommendation

That the list of savings options contained in Appendix 1 is incorporated into the draft budget for 2003/04 with the following exceptions:

  • Item 2 (civil staff) is not included
  • The estimate of income under item 4 (aerial sites rental) is reviewed to ensure it is a realistic figure for 2003/04
  • Item 10 is considered further by the MPA

Further information is to be presented to the Finance Committee to support the savings options and to enable final decisions to be taken on items 4 and 10.

B. Supporting information

1. Relevant information is contained in the substantive report (agenda item 6.)

2. As mentioned in the main report an informal member discussion was held on 8 November 2002 which reviewed the schedule of further options for savings for 2003/04 at appendix 1. In the light of that discussion the Committee is asked to consider the additional recommendation set out above.

D. Financial implications

The budget submission forms part of the process for determining the Authority’s budget for 2003/04.
