MPA Statement: CPS decision not to bring charges against police officers in relation to the death of Ian Tomlinson

The death of Ian Tomlinson was a tragedy and the MPA's condolences are with his family and friends.

The Authority notes the CPS decision and the matter will now be referred back to the IPCC to decide whether disciplinary action should be considered. It is therefore not possible to comment further at this time.

The Authority will continue to work closely with the Met to oversee and scrutinise public order policing tactics. It is imperative that public confidence is maintained in the way that the Met police demonstrations
